All documents and information for each participant must be provided, via the platform, before August 1, 2026, or the registration will be canceled.
The organizer’s liability cannot be engaged if, due to force majeure beyond their control, the event must be modified, shortened, or canceled. The Organizers are discharged from any claims from participants, particularly regarding the refund of registration fees.
Article 7: Equipment#
All bicycles are accepted, including tandems, provided they are human-powered only. The participant is responsible for ensuring their bicycle is perfectly suited to the nature and difficulty of the event, as well as compliant with current regulations for riding on open roads.
The participant’s equipment and gear are under their own responsibility for the duration of the event. The organization disclaims any liability in case of deterioration, loss, or theft of equipment, including the bicycle, or individual gear during the event. Participants should not leave any valuables unattended during breaks and at refreshment stations.
Article 8: Mandatory Equipment#
The participant must have a bicycle and equipment compliant with traffic regulations, including appropriate lighting for night riding.
Participation in the Échappée Michelin Paris-Clermont is only possible with the following mandatory equipment:

The brevet will not be validated if these rules are not respected.
It is each participant’s responsibility to anticipate the battery charge needed for the duration of the event.

The organization particularly recommends that participants bring:
- A pump and puncture repair kit.
- A multi-tool or some tools for common repairs.

- Food to cope with hunger between refreshment stations or shops.

Article 8: Self-Supported Event#
The Échappée Michelin Paris-Clermont is a self-supported event.
Each participant must provide for themselves everything required to complete their brevet. No assistance services, coaches, support staff, or follow cars are allowed on the course outside of checkpoints. Participants violating this article will be eliminated without appeal.
This rule is established for the sake of fairness, respect for BRM rules, and safety for all. To maintain the accessibility of the event to as many people as possible, the organization has reinforced checkpoints and refreshment stations (approximately every 100 km), and will provide a list of shops and water points along the course.
Article 9: Compliance with Traffic Regulations#
The Échappée Michelin Paris-Clermont is a non-competitive event on open roads. Participants commit to strictly complying with traffic regulations.
Participants do not have priority, whether alone or in a group, and must stop at intersections when the traffic code requires it. They must respect private property and the environment.
If groups of participants form, the organization reminds riders of the traffic code provisions:
- If riding in a group, ride two abreast or in single file.
- At night, when being overtaken by a vehicle, or when circumstances require it (narrow road, etc.), always ride in single file.
- If your group has more than ten people, split it up.
Failure to comply with traffic regulations exposes the participant to refusal of BRM validation and exclusion from the event.
Article 10: Baggage#
An optional baggage transport service from Brétigny-Sur-Orge to Clermont-Ferrand is offered, by reservation at registration. All baggage must be identifiable with the participant’s number; a label will be distributed. Equipment is the participant’s responsibility.
Baggage weight must not exceed 5 kg. Baggage must not contain any valuables.
Article 11: Course#
The route will be provided to participants as a GPX file. The organization recommends waiting until the last few days to download it, to account for the latest changes. The route may be modified at any time if the organization deems that conditions require it.
No course marking is planned. It is the participant’s responsibility to follow the route using their phone or a GPS.
Failure to complete the entire course or taking shortcuts is prohibited. A participant may choose to leave the route if necessary, but must return to the same point to resume the event.
Article 12: Start Organization#
The start will be given from Brétigny-Sur-Orges, on September 5, 2026, from 6:00 AM, and before 7:00 AM.
Participant check-in will be possible from 5:00 AM at the start location.
Participants are invited to arrive as early as possible, to ensure a smooth start for all participants before 7:00 AM.
At the start, the organization will carry out an equipment check, and BRM booklets will be stamped. Participants will be invited to present themselves in the starting pen, to ensure a smooth start. Participants commit to following the officials’ instructions at the start and throughout the entire event.
Article 13: BRM Validation#
BRM validation will be available for individual participants and tandem riders. Relay participants will not be able to validate the BRM, as they do not cover the full distance.
At the start, each participant will receive an individual route card, to be validated personally at the checkpoints.
The organization has planned the following checkpoints:
- Brétigny-sur-Orge: Mandatory checkpoint, at the start, with breakfast. An Échappée team will provide you with the stamped route booklet.
- Sully-sur-Loire: Mandatory checkpoint, without refreshments. An Échappée team will be present to validate BRM booklets. Open: Saturday 09/05 from 9:14 AM to 1:20 PM.

- Finish, Place des Carmes in Clermont-Ferrand: Checkpoint with refreshments. Open: 6:08 PM to 9:00 AM on Sunday.
BRM validation will only be possible if the participant proves their passage at each of these checkpoints, by having a stamp and the time of passage affixed to the route booklet.
If the checkpoint is closed, the participant can still validate the BRM by verifying their passage:
- Either by having their booklet stamped at a shop in the same town.
- Or by taking a photo of themselves with the town sign (selfie).
Time limit: 27 hours maximum.
Maximum average speed: 33 km/h maximum average speed allowed.
By participating in a BRM brevet, participants accept the publication of their identity and completion time in the results published by the organization.
The Échappée Michelin Paris-Clermont is a BRM, subject to the regulations of the Audax Club Parisien. https://www.audax-club-parisien.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Reglement-participant-2024.pdf
Article 14: Relay Participation for 2 Riders#
The Échappée Michelin Paris-Clermont offers relay registration. Relay participants are not eligible for Brevet Randonneur Mondial (BRM) validation, as they have not completed the entire event.
The relay handover must take place at the Bourges refreshment site. The GPS tracker will be transferred at the time of the refreshment stop.
For the sake of conviviality, both participants are admitted to all refreshment stations of the event, even if they are not riding at that time.
The “self-supported event” rules apply: the non-riding participant is not allowed to follow their teammate by car, nor to organize additional refreshment stops. This is for the safety of all, fairness, and the spirit of adventure.
Article 15: Safety and Environment#
Participants in the Échappée Michelin Paris-Clermont ride self-supported during the event. On the entire course, with the exception of the Michelin Ladoux site (“Les pistes”), in case of a problem it is imperative:
- To notify the organizers via the numbers that will be communicated.
- To call 18 or 112 directly in case of emergency.
Part of the course will take place on the Michelin Ladoux site, which has its own rescue service. By registering, participants accept to be assisted by the Michelin rescue team if the situation requires it.
In case of a problem on the Michelin site, it is imperative:
- To notify the organizers via the numbers that will be communicated.
- To call the Michelin rescue team directly (via the numbers that will be communicated) in case of emergency.
The event is non-competitive; participants should assist each other and contact emergency services if necessary.
Even though every effort is made to ensure everything runs smoothly, particularly regarding safety, the organization cannot be held responsible for any accident or incident occurring during the event.
The Organizers also reserve the right to stop any participant suffering from a health issue.
To protect the environment, any participant throwing litter outside designated areas may be excluded from the event.
Article 16: Image Rights#
By participating in the Échappée Michelin Paris-Clermont, each cyclist expressly authorizes the organizers and event partners to use, have used, reproduce, and have reproduced in their name, their image, and their voice for any direct, indirect, or derivative exploitation of the event.
Article 17: Data Protection Law#
